A little of Jesus

Starkindler – How God made the stars to guide us to Him

One of my favourite songs, sung by Michael Card

A billion bright and holy beams
Of a light that’s traveled far
Began the trip from His fingertips
The wonder of the stars
Affirm the signs and seasons
So silently they sing
Of the wonder of their kindler
Of the power of their king

Oh the fiery suns above us
In the vast veil of the sky
Are your servant flames of fire
Are your silent holy guides
And like the star lit magi
May the guide our souls to you
As they shine the light of awesome love
Into eyes that see anew

A billion bright and holy beams
Of a light that’s traveled far
Began the trip from his fingertips
The wonder of the stars
And like the star lit magi
May the guide our souls to you
As they shine the light of awesome love
Into eyes that see anew

Thankful

Thankful, sung by Josh Groban

Somedays, we forget to look around us,
Somedays, we can’t see the joy that surrounds us,
So caught up inside ourselves,
We take when we should give,
So for tonight we pray for,
What we know can be,
And on this day we hope for,
What we still can’t see,
It’s up to us, to be the change,
And even though we all can still do more,
There’s so much to be thankful for,
Look beyond ourselves,
There’s so much sorrow,
It’s way to late to say, I’ll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth,
It’s so long overdue,
So for tonight we pray for,

What we know can be,
And everyday, we hope for,
What we still can’t see,
It’s up to us, to be the change,
And even though we all can still do more,
There’s so much to be thankful for,
Even with our differences,
There is a place we’re all connected,
Each of us can find each others light,
So for tonight, we pray for
What we know can be,
And on this day, we hope for,
What we still can’t see,
It’s up to us, to be the change,
And even though this world needs so much more
There’s so much to be thankful for.

He Comes to Us One Unknown

We have no terms today which can express what he means for us.

He comes to us one unknown, without a name, as of old, by the lakeside, he came to those men who did not know who he was.

He says the same words, ‘Follow me!’ and sets us to those tasks, which he must fulfil in our time.

He commands.

And those who harken to him, whether wise on unwise, he will reveal himself in the peace, the labours, the conflicts and the suffering that they may experience in his fellowship, and as an ineffable mystery they will learn who he is…

– Jesus beautifully described by Albert Schweitzer who was by the way vegetarian 🙂 in his Quest of the Historical Jesus

How to Read the Bible

God speaks to us in different ways, and is no respecter of persons. But curiosity often hinders us in the reading of the Scriptures, for we try to examine and dispute over matters that we should pass over and accept in simplicity.

If you desire profit, read with humility, simplicity and faith, and have no concern to appear learned. Ask questions freely, and listen in silence to the words of the Saints; hear with patience the parables of the fathers, for they are not told without good cause.

Give Me Your Eyes, Give Me Your Love for Humanity

“Give Me Your Eyes”
by Brandon Heath

Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion
And chaos
All those people goin’ somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what’s underneath
There’s a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He’s out of work, he’s buyin’ time

All those people goin’ somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah

I’ve been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way You’ve seen the people all along

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

Give me Your Eyes (Give me Your eyes for just one second)
Lord, give me Your eyes (Give me Your eyes so I can see)
Everything (Everything that I keep missing)
(Give me Your love for humanity)
Give me Your heart (Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted)
For the broken hearted (The ones that are far beyond my reach)
Give me Your heart (Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten)
Lord, give me Your eyes (Give me Your eyes so I can see)
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah

“Unless you see signs

and wonders,

you will not believe.”

John 4:48

You want to see

Otherwise you don’t

Believe

If you see

You still don’t

Believe

Because it is

Too fantastic

Not possible

What Jesus did

So you don’t

Believe

Anyway
